It’s “I Wear Because I Care” week at Pen Air. This is a week to take time to reflect and celebrate our big-hearted employees for accomplishing a huge milestone in giving through our Jeans for Communerosity program.
The philanthropic, employee driven program started in 2013 as an idea from Stu Ramsey, Pen Air President/CEO. He encourage the employees to create a charitable giving program that included an active employee committee to spearhead efforts that enhance the lives of our community. Our employees put the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” in to action by ending 2017 giving more than $200,000 to 17 local, nonprofit organizations in Baldwin, Escambia, and Santa Rosa counties. Half of those funds – $100,000 – came directly from the pockets of our employees, and were matched by the credit union.
Our employees truly live our value of Communerosity, not only through their giving of dollars, but also through the most invaluable resource – time. We closed the year with 4,282.45 volunteer hours logged by our staff.
