Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida believes that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child—not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal, or where they will lay their head at night to rest.
That’s why they strives to be the best home-away-from-home for families who travel to Pensacola to receive critical medical treatment for their children. And all of us at Pen Air are proud to do what we can to support them—most recently through Kaps 4 Kids and Jeans 4 Generosity.
Joining the regional community to support Kaps 4 Kids
For 20 years, the Ronald McDonald House has been holding a casual day event called Kaps 4 Kids (K4K). Businesses, organizations, schools, government agencies and other groups participated by purchasing K4K t-shirts, hats, visors and insulated tote bags designed by local elementary school students, and wearing and bringing them to work on April 21.
This year, 14 Pen Air employees volunteered in bagging K4K orders and staffing the Pick Up Party. Fifty-six employees purchased K4K gear totaling $1,110.
“Going casual” pays off!
Through our employee-driven fundraising program “Jeans for Generosity,” our branch and headquarters employees make a contribution to support a designated organization—in return they can wear jeans to work.
This year’s beneficiary is Ronald McDonald House Charities. On May 12, it was our honor and privilege to present them with a J4G check for $5,000.00. This donation brings the total of J4G funds raised since 2013 to $23,000. Thanks to all our employees for contributing and participating!
Our employees’ commitment to Ronald McDonald House isn’t limited to special events. Many of them volunteer at the house by cooking and serving meals to guests. Plus, we all “pull together,” contributing beverage can tabs to their recycling program, which helps defray utility costs. Since December we’ve dropped off 9,122 tabs.
